"Demografische Forschung Aus Erster Hand" is issued by the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research Rostock in cooperation with the Institute for Demography of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, Vienna, and the Rostock Center for the Study of Demographic Change. The information letter is published quarterly and is available as both, electronic and printed copy. It can be received free of charge.

The editors - Prof. James Vaupel (Rostock), Prof. Gabriele Doblhammer (Rostock), Prof. Norbert Schneider (Wiesbaden) and Prof. Wolfgang Lutz (Vienna) – intend with the information letter to intensify the dialogue between and public. "First-hand demographic research" mainly adresses journalists, politicians and interested persons from adjacent fields of work. Studies relevant for Germany and/or Austria are presented here. Primarily considered are studies that have been elaborated at one of the three involved institutions.
