Dieses interdisziplinäre Forschungsprojekt untersucht an der Schnittstelle von Sozialwissenschaften und Reproduktionsmedizin das hochdynamische Forschungsfeld der medizinisch assistierten Reproduktion (MAR) mit seinen Auswirkungen auf Individuum und Gesellschaft. Dabei wird insbesondere der deutsche Kontext in den Fokus gerückt. Zentrale Forschungsfragen sind: Wie gestalten sich die Inanspruchnahme und der Behandlungserfolg reproduktionsmedizinsicher Behandlungen in Deutschland? Wer hat (keinen) Zugang zu reproduktionsmedizinischen Leistungen? Welche gesellschaftlichen Implikationen ergeben sich daraus?

In einem aktuellen Teilprojekt werden im Rahmen einer Pilotstudie Daten an zwei Standorten in Norddeutschland erhoben, um zu untersuchen inwiefern sozioökonomische Bedingungen den Zugang zu Kinderwunschbehandlungen beeinflussen („Sozio-oekonomische Faktoren im Kontext von IVF-Behandlungen – eine Pilotstudie“ - SOFIA-1-Studie).

[This interdisciplinary research project examines at the interface of social sciences and reproductive medicine the highly dynamic research field of medically assisted reproduction and its effects on the individual and societal level. The focus is on the German context. Central research questions are: What is the utilization and success of reproductive medical treatments in Germany? Who has (no) access to reproductive medical services? What are the social implications?

In a recent subproject, data will be collected at two sites in northern Germany as part of a pilot study to investigate the extent to which socio-economic conditions influence access to fertility treatments ("Socio-economic factors in the context of IVF treatments - a pilot study" - SOFIA-1 study).]
